Changes to Area Types

Following feedback from some Real Estate agents we have made some major changes to how we capture the area of your property.  Before we just had Floor Area and Land Area and it was a bit confusing which one to use.

Now you can break a property down into its area components such as office; retail; warehouse; mezzanine; showroom; storage etc.  Just fill in the appropriate values in the respective fields and Total Area is calculated for you.

Automatic feeds for Real Estate firms

We have been told by a number of Commercial Real Estate agencies that they will support our site once I sort out automatic feeds for them.  This is something that we knew we had to do but the problem we have at the moment is finding someone to talk to who knows something about it, from a technical point of view.

So you cam help or know anyone who can help then we would love to know about them.

Why do I have to enter a dollar figure?

We thought long and hard about this and spoke with many other people who had recent experiences in looking for space.

One of the most frustrating option on many websites was the ‘Price by Negotiation’ and in many cases the potential buyer would move on as they could not be bothered ringing to see if the property was within their price range.

Therefore in light of the fact that this information is what the buyer wants to know we have made it a mandatory field for Lease, Rent and Sale options.  However, if you are selling by Auction, Tender or Private Treaty then the sale price is zeroed.

At the end of the day we want to eliminate all obstacles that might cause a potential buyer not to call you.

Is it possible to feature a property on the front page?

We have a number of Banner advertising spots on the front page.  You can purchase any of these spots for a period of 28 days and cycle as many ads as you like on the site.  You can decide the priority of each ad in that you can select that a particular ad is displayed (x) times.

For example, say you have three ads to display and you want one to display twice as frequently as the others.  All we do is give two a priority of one and the other a frequency of two.  Reports are available to to show how many times your ad appeared (impressions) and how many times it was clicked on.

The ad sizes are:

326 x 461 pixels – jpg file

326 x 173 pixels – jpg file

FREE property listings prove a hit!

Well this week has seen a frenzy of activity.  Having launched on Monday we were totally surprised by many encouraging comments been received both from real estate agents and also property investors.  It seems the latter group had been looking out for a service where they could list their properties as a number of the more common ones were restricted to them.

I’m glad to say that we have no restrictions on our site and it is open to both private sellers and real estate agents.

The response from commercial real estate agents was very encouraging although they have not been beating a path to my door, but its early days yet.  We finished the week with about 30 new users signing up and 30 to 40 new properties.

It seems the the offer of FREE ‘Keep it Simple‘ advertising on the site is just what is required in the current economic environment.

Findspace finally launches in New Zealand

Findspace finally goes public on Monday June 15th, 2009.

Getting to this point has taken a number of years which were interrupted by events such as cycling across Tibet, heading to Europe for extended visits, cycling the length of New Zealand and attending to the running of a busy Payroll Bureau.

However, eventually we hit GO and we are very pleased with the results.  We made it into a couple of National publications such as NZ Property Investor and the National Business Review (but any other national coverage would be very welcome). Read the article here.

The hard work now will be to win over the business community and the commercial real estate agents but we have something up our sleave for these guys…..
